The basics
What is Optter?
A free-to-play football prediction game. You call the score and the scorers before kickoff, score points when the result is in, and climb a table against everyone playing.
How it worksDoes it cost anything?
No. Optter is free to play, and you never need to pay to play.
Boosters are optional. You can claim a free ×2 every gameweek and earn more from badges and invites.
Can I win money?
No. There are no cash prizes, and points have no cash value. Boosters and rewards can’t be exchanged for cash either.
You play for your place on the table.
How old do I need to be?
Optter is for people aged 13 and over.
What do I need to play?
A phone. Optter is an app for iPhone and Android.
When can I start?
Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when Optter opens.
Playing
How do picks work?
For each match, call the final score before kickoff. Then add your goalscorers: one slot for every goal you predict for a side, up to 3 a side.
When do picks lock?
At kickoff. Until then you can change your score, scorers and boosters as often as you like. Once a match kicks off your pick is locked and other players can see it. Nobody sees yours until then.
Turn on reminders and we’ll nudge you 2 hours before your picks lock.
How are points worked out?
+3 for the correct result (home win, draw or away win). +5 more for the exact score, so an exact score is worth 8. +1 for each scorer you picked who scores. Own goals don’t count for scorers.
Fulham 1–2 Arsenal. You called 1–2 with Saka, and Saka scored: 3 for the result, 5 for the exact score and 1 for the scorer. That’s 9 pts.
Where do results come from?
From official data feeds, never from players. As soon as a result is in, your pick settles and your points appear on the pick and in the tables. If a result is corrected, points are worked out again.
A pick may be voided if a match is postponed or abandoned.
What are boosters and power-ups?
Boosters (×2, ×3, ×5, ×10) multiply every point a pick scores. You can use one ×10 a week. Football also has Winner, Exact and Scorer boosters, which double just that part of a pick.
Power-ups score on how a match unfolds, not just your exact call. One per match, on top of any booster. They never take points away.

Who am I playing against?
Everyone. The weekly table counts your points from this gameweek and starts again each Tuesday. The season table adds up every week of the season, which runs from July to June.
The table and rewardsCan I play with friends?
Yes. Follow anyone to keep up with them. Friends is mutual: you send a request, they accept, and you both see each other on the Friends table.

What happens if I miss a gameweek?
Your streak counts the gameweeks in a row you’ve made a pick. Miss one and a shield covers it automatically, if you have one. Shields are earned from badges, never sold.
What are badges?
Badges for streaks, exact scores, scorers, big weeks and friends. Most come with a free booster or a streak shield. Earned once, kept for good.
Privacy and safety
What do you do with my email?
If you join the waitlist, we use your email only to tell you when Optter opens. We don’t send marketing emails, and we don’t share it with anyone.

Is Optter linked to any clubs or leagues?
No. Optter is not affiliated with or endorsed by any league, club, team or governing body. Team names are used for identification only.
What if someone is abusive?
You can report any player or profile photo from their profile, and block anyone. We review every report within 24 hours.
