Privacy policy

Last updated 15 October 2026

This explains what Optter stores about you, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and the Optter app.

Who we are

Optter is responsible for your data (the data controller).

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and when you joined. We use it only to tell you when Optter opens. We don’t send marketing emails, and we don’t share your email with anyone. We do this because you asked us to (your consent).

The list is stored in our database, hosted by Supabase.

We delete the list once we’ve told everyone Optter is open, or sooner if you ask us to remove you.

This website

This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and doesn’t run analytics.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

What the app stores

Your account: your email address and sign-in details, and when you agreed to our terms and confirmed you’re 13 or older.

Your profile: username, display name, avatar colour, profile photo if you add one, favourite team and the sports you play.

Your game: your picks, points, ranks, boosters and power-ups, badges and streaks.

Your purchases: for each store order, the item, its price, when you bought it and the App Store or Google Play transaction number, plus the amount and currency the store charged. We never receive your card or bank details; Apple or Google take the payment.

Your connections: who you follow, your friends and friend requests, and who you’ve blocked.

Notifications: the notifications we send you, your notification settings and, if you allow push notifications, a push token for your device.

Reports: if you report someone, or someone reports you, we keep who reported whom, why, and what we did about it.

Who can see what

Other players can see your username, display name, photo, favourite team, sports, points and ranks. They see your picks only once a match has kicked off.

Your friends list, blocked list, boosters, purchases, notifications, reports and email address are private to you. People you block, and people who block you, can’t see each other. The person you report isn’t told it was you.

Why we use it

To run the game: score your picks, build the leaderboards, and show your profile to other players. To deliver what you buy and handle refunds. To send the notifications you’ve turned on. To keep the app safe: reviewing reports and acting on them.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show you ads.

Where it’s stored

We use these services to run the app. Each only gets what it needs:

Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage. Expo, Apple and Google deliver push notifications. Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) take payments, and RevenueCat confirms purchases to us and passes on refunds; it receives your account’s ID in our app and your purchase history, not your name or email. Our email provider sends sign-in and password emails.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account we delete your profile, photo, picks, points history, boosters, store orders, connections, reports and notifications straight away. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own records of your purchases under their policies.

Your rights

You can see and change your profile in the app, and delete everything with Account → Delete account. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.

If you’re in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

Optter is for people aged 13 and over.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app and update this page.
