What this is

Optter is a free-to-play prediction game. You make picks on sports results, score points and compare them with other players. There are no cash prizes, and points have no cash value. You never need to pay to play.

Optter is not affiliated with or endorsed by any league, club, team or governing body. Team and competition names are used for identification only.

This website and the waitlist

Joining the waitlist doesn’t create an account or reserve a username. We’ll use your email only to tell you when Optter opens.

The examples on this website, including example matches, tables and player names, are illustrations of how the game works, not real results.

Your account

You need to be 13 or older to use the app. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens on your account.

You can delete your account at any time in Account → Delete account. That removes your profile, picks, points history, boosters, friends and photo for good.

Picks, points and results

Picks lock at kickoff (or the start of qualifying in F1). Points are worked out from official results as we record them. If a result is corrected, points are worked out again from the corrected result.

We may void a pick when a match is postponed or abandoned, or when something goes wrong on our side. Our records of picks and results are final.

Boosters and the store

Boosters and power-ups change how a pick scores. You can earn them free (one ×2 every week, badges and invites) or buy them in the store. They can only be used in the app, can’t be exchanged for cash and can’t be transferred to another account. Anything unused is lost when you delete your account.

Every item shows exactly what you get and its price before you buy. Nothing is random. Prices include any tax and are charged in your local currency by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms; we never see your card details.

Items are added to your account as soon as the store confirms the payment. Because they’re delivered straight away, you agree that the 14-day cancellation period for digital content ends when they’re added. This doesn’t affect refunds you can ask Apple or Google for, or your other rights by law.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google. If a purchase is refunded, we remove the items from it that you haven’t used yet.

A monthly spending limit applies to store purchases; you can see and change it in the store. Lowering it applies straight away; raising it takes effect after 7 days.

Until paid purchases are switched on, the store runs in test mode: items are added so you can try them and nothing is charged.

Your content and behaviour

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Your username, display name and profile photo must not be offensive, sexual, hateful or violent, impersonate someone else or use marks you don’t own, such as club crests. Don’t harass, threaten or abuse other players.

You can report any player or profile photo from their profile, and block anyone. We review every report within 24 hours. If something breaks these rules we remove it, and we may rename you, suspend you or close your account without notice.

Don’t cheat, automate picks, run more than one account, or try to break or overload the app.

Changes and availability

We may change the game, its rules and these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies. The app and this website may sometimes be unavailable, and we can’t promise they will be free of errors.

Liability

Optter is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss that comes from using it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
